Chapter 195 As Broad As Your Imagination

After the interview, Lee Seng gathered his things on the arena floor and was led towards his waiting room. The staff member opened the door and motioned him through. Lee Seng gave his thanks, sword in his right hand and jacket across his left arm, and walked into the room.

"Nothing sets me apart from the dreams of millions and millions of other students and kids. I will continue to work hard to get to that finish line." Abby recited. Lee Seng\'s head turned left and looked at Number 7 fiddling with a coin. The coin moved over to the right side of her knuckles and back to the left side. "You could\'ve kept it short, but you went on about working hard to achieve your dreams."

Abby looked up at him and pushed herself off the wall she was leaning on. She tossed the coin and caught it mid air, settling her eyes on Lee Seng.

"What\'re you doing here?" Lee Seng asked.

"I was in the area and thought I\'d stop by to see your match." Abby told him. She moved over to the couch and sat down.

"That\'s it?" Lee Seng set his katana and jacket onto the table and moved over to sit on the couch.

"That\'s it. Don\'t worry, I\'m not here on business. I came here because Carter told me you got into some betting situation with one of the promising Third Year students." Abby looked at Lee Seng. She lifted the coin and flung it towards Lee Seng. Lee Seng grabbed the coin and looked at it. It was a dollar credit. He hadn\'t seen actual cred money in awhile.

"You fought alright against Tristan." Abby told him.

"I thought you weren\'t going to talk business."

"It\'s not business. It was an observation. I\'m not here because of the Numbers, you don\'t have to have your panties in a bunch. I thought you\'d want some insight from someone who\'s been on the field for over twenty-five years."

"I could just watch the video later when I get home."

"You need a broader perspective if you\'re going to be hardworking and dedicated to getting into the expedition force." Abby told Lee Seng. Lee Seng knew she was right and begrudgingly waved at her. "What? You want me to leave? I can leave?" She started to stand.

"No." Lee Seng said louder than he intended. He looked at her and sighed as he bit the inside of his lip. "Y-you\'re right… If I want to get better, I need a…"

"Broader perspective."

"That." Lee Seng pointed out. Abby chuckled and sat back down.

"I\'m just teasing you. Don\'t need to get all grumpy."

"I\'m not grumpy." Lee Seng tried his best to hide his pouty nature from her.

"Good." Abby smiled. She could tell Lee Seng was trying to hold something back.. "I\'ll only talk about your powers as your martial arts are passable."

"Being trained under two of the best martial artists is passable?  Okay, go on." He watched as Abby shifted in her seat.

"Let\'s get this outta the way first… Why do you have to take off your shirt every time you flex your strength? You know you don\'t need to do it, right? You\'ve gotten better at handling your strength and your muscles don\'t expand like they used to." Abby began.

"Force of habit after I ripped hundreds of shirts because of the aura shift." Lee Seng answered.

"Just tryna flex your bod for some ladies, huh?"

"Shut up and get on with it."

"Tristan has the ability to manipulate his aura and others he\'s fighting. His usual tactics include: distorting his opponents senses and going in for aura blows. He rarely ever uses his aura explosion because it takes so much Dark Matter. I\'m sure you realized this much by fighting him."

"Mmmhm."

"You spent most of the time trying to get over these hurdles. The aura disruption hurt you most, which forced you into a precarious situation. \'Do I fight him with the disruption or figure out how to disrupt it?\' Those were probably the two questions you asked, right?"

"Mmm, and?"

"And you correctly made a choice, eventually. Everyone knows about your super Biohuman capabilities but they haven\'t seen it before. Betting matches rely on two things: intel and your own fighting capabilities. Since this match was made on the same day, both of you probably didn\'t have time to dig around for intel. You had an advantage because you were new and your powers just manifested two months ago. Not many people know where your true capabilities lie. Sometimes I think you forget about your true capabilities." Abby glanced at Lee Seng who was nodding along.

Images flashed of an old factory warehouse in Lee Seng\'s head. He remembered the rust on the metal, the dust and debris that sat on the ground with random things left behind to die. Akio and Scarlet\'s voices scream at him to go, followed by Lee Seng releasing too strong of a punch that caused the warehouse to crash. Akio\'s scar popped in his head and he shook his head.

"You finally used more of your strength after… four years?" Abby asked. Lee Seng slowly stopped nodding and stared at his hands. Silence made their way into the room. They sat between Lee Seng and Abby, looking at Lee Seng as  the sounds of gunshots echoed in his head.

"Mmm." Lee Seng answered after a long pause. Abby simply nodded. She folded her legs together and leaned back. Her hands tucked into the leather jacket that only covered half of her torso.

"Anyway," Abby cleared her throat. Her eyes moved to focus on something else while Lee Seng continued to stare at his hands. "You used more of your strength which threw him off. It\'s good to have a strategy in place, but he eventually caught on and used more of his own power. You aren\'t going to be able to brute force everything like you have in the past. These students are fighting for the top as well. They all have similar dreams like you. To join the AA, Police, Army, or some other field that involves travelling outside these walls.

"I\'ll just leave you with this…" Abby unfolded her legs and pulled her hands out of her leather jacket, leaning forward. "You\'re still holding back from your full potential." Lee Seng snapped out of his daze and slightly turned his head to look at her. "I know your power is destructive, but you\'re doing very basic things with a B-rank ability. You\'re two months into you awakening, so I thought you\'d at least have a greater grasp of your power, maybe even one or two advanced techniques in place, but I guess I was wrong." Abby began to stand up and Lee Seng immediately turned to face her.

"I\'m still doing basic things?" Lee Seng asked. "I\'ve been practicing how to sustain hovering and to fly. I don\'t think that\'s basic."

"Hovering and flying are great, but the way you naturally fight is like a Fighter. I\'ve watched the other clips of you using ranged attacks like a Glass, Lee Seng. It is an improvement but your main fighting style will always be close combat. You need to work on creating more complicated and advanced ways to fight.

"Tristan\'s aura explosion only came into fruition because of hard work and trying to create a way to fix one of his weaknesses as a Fighter. He can\'t do Glass things, so he had to implement it in a way that would give him an advantage if he had to use it. The one thing I want you to take away from this fight is you haven\'t really taken the power as your own, yet." Abby told him. Lee Seng bit his lip and nodded.

"How can I make it more advanced?" Lee Seng whispered.

"That\'s an answer you need to figure out on your own. I know you\'ve only awakened two months ago, but you\'re in the Academy, so you need to constantly keep on improving or else you\'ll be left in the dust. You have three more weeks before you have a big field test, right?"

"Mmm."

"In those three weeks, try to figure out something you can do that fits your fighting style." Abby hinted.

"Something in my fighting style?" Lee Seng looked up at Abby. "What can I do…?"

"It\'s all up here, Chang." Abby pointed at her brain. "Your powers can only go as far as you imagine them to go. Just because you might have an S-rank ability, doesn\'t mean you can just take it easy. Some people are told that and take it easy while others are told they\'re just a low rank and surpass expectations. Your power is only as good as the mind of the wielder."

"So do you have any tips? You\'re a Specialist, too. A Fighter and Glass Specialist." Lee Seng stood up. Abby sighed and crossed her arms together. She turned to face him. If Lee Seng wasn\'t so into the conversation, he would\'ve naturally teased her into leaving, but Abby\'s insight had lit something bright within him.

"The wind is a natural occurrence that happens here, right?" Abby asked. Lee Seng nodded at her question. "Just like wind, gravity is something that just happens. It\'s a law. Don\'t make me give you a Science lecture because I\'m not that person." She crossed that part out, quickly, which made Lee Seng chuckle.

"Understanding how gravity works can allow you to get a grasp of what could happen. You can alter the law of gravity by becoming a sort of point. You can push, pull, slow, stop with gravity. If these are the basics that you can do, work on what you can do and create more complicated sets within the basics."

"Create more complicated sets within the basics…? What do you mean by that?"

"For example, you can channel your power into your sword. You can currently release a blast from the weapon or strengthen the strike, right?"

"Yeah."

"So what would happen if you had multiple effects occur with one strike? These are questions and things you should ask yourself. Go to the what if\'s and jot them down somewhere. You can answer them if you practice enough. That\'s what I mean by advancing and complicating things. Your power goes as far as you wish it to. You learn what you can\'t do and what you can do and that… That helps you move forward."
